Frank serving dinner In 1946, in the heart of the Ozark Mountains, a smokehouse was built.

In 1941, Roy Sharp moved to Arkansas' Ozark Mountains with retirement on his mind. Instead, out of a smoker in his barn, he began producing the tastiest turkeys for his friends and neighbors. Roy's barn soon burned when that smoker caught fire, but while sifting through the ashes, Roy determined to rebuild. In 1946, right here on Mt Kessler's slopes, Roy did rebuild—and created the Ozark Mountain Smokehouse.

We have grown a bit since then, but we still use the recipe Roy created for those first turkeys. Cured with the perfect mix of herbs and spices, and smoked over a green hickory fire, the best things about the Ozark Mountain Smokehouse haven't changed.

The core of our business is still the delicious smoked turkey Roy Sharp first perfected, and from that you can rest assured the mouthwatering taste and Ozark Mountain quality in every product will always remain.

What sets us apart? We are a small, independent smokehouse. We put a lot of effort into ensuring that what leaves our smokehouse will be delicious when it winds up on your plate. Much of the processed, and so-called "smoked" meat, that lines your grocery store shelves is very different from the artisinal, hand-crafted meats we produce. That grocery store meat is likely to be pumped full of water, and is often not really smoked, but bathed in a chemically produced "liquid smoke". Sounds yummy, right? Well, not to us-which is why every ounce of our smoked meat is smoked over a log fire of Native Ozark Hickory right in one of our two-story smokers on Mt. Kessler. We add no water, so that when you buy our meat, you're paying for just that: Meat. Not all the additional water that bumps up the weight, and makes it appear that you're getting a good deal. As an experiment, compare some day the cooking time on our bacon, against that of some of the other bacons you might find out there. Ours cooks up quick, while "theirs" takes quite a long time, because first you have to cook off all the added water. Our flavor is strong and bold, not diluted or chemically enhanced.

Make a visit to ozarkmountainsmokehouse.com a regular event. Our bacons, hams, and turkeys are great all year long.

Sincerely,
